Character Information
Character Name: Motomiya Daisuke
Fandom: Digimon Adventure 02

Character History: Daisuke's first encounter with digimon was when Vamdemon gathered the children of the city in the search for the sixth Chosen Child, Hikari. Like many of the other people, he was told that none of it was real and all part of mass hallucination. For a time Daisuke believed it was true until three years later when he became a Chosen Child. His first trip to the Digital World was with Takery and Hikari to try and help Taichi and Agumon. Daisuke was able to pick up the Digimental of Courage. It was then his partner V-mon was revealed. Monochromon attacked and Daisuke was able to use the Digimental to evolve V-mon into Fladramon. His partner was able to fight off the digimon. During the fight, Daisuke's goggles were broken and so Taichi gave him his goggles as a sign of him becoming a new Chosen Child as well as his possible spot as team leader.

It was during their next trip to the Digital World that Daisuke and V-mon were captured by the Digimon Kaiser. Thanks to Miyako and Iori coming in with the original, they were able to rescue him and Miyako and Iori were officially brought into the group now that they had their partners and digimentals.

It was the fourth trip to the Digital World, after Takeru and Hikari had gotten their digimentals along with their new D3s that Gabumon reached out to Yamato after the group had saved another group of digimon. They went to the village to save the captured digimon though Daisuke began to butt heads with Yamato and the others. Daisuke wanted to use a more direct attack approach while the others elected to go in with stealth. Daisuke followed along with the plan until they freed the digimon. He wanted to fight his way out yet the others elected to head to the top of the mountain over looking the city to escape. It was on the way up the mountain, where the Dark Tower was, that Takeru told Daisuke he had met his sister. Daisuke instantly asked if she bad mouthed him, which she kind of had, yet Takeru said no. Daisuke, not believing him, started to talk about how Jun didn't like him and how he didn't like her. Yamato got angry hearing Daisuke talk like this and told him off. And then Hikari did the same, telling Daisuke she hated people who talked bad about their siblings. The group got to the top of the mountain where the Veggiemon and RedVeggiemon attacked. Daisuke watched as V-mon gotten beat up as he tried to be awesome to cheer up his partner. The RedVeggiemon attacked the Dark Tower, which interrupted its ability to stop normal evolving. Yamato evolved Gabumon and Daisuke used his digimental to evolve V-mon. The team fought off the digimon and destroyed the Dark Tower. It was then they realized destroying the tower would free all the digimon with the Evil Rings on them. The team was then given their goal.

The group continued to travel to and from the Digital World in an attempt to fight against the Digimon Kaiser and stop his conquest of the Digital World. It was when Hikari was kidnapped that Takeru and Daisuke went to save her inside of a robotic city in the desert. Daisuke became jealous when Takeru showed how Patamon could evolve into Angemon and told him that Gatomon could become Angewomon. They were able to infiltrate the city though it was thanks to Hikari that they freed Andromon from his Evil Ring and he destroyed the Dark Tower.

It was soon later that Daisuke's school was going up against the team that the famous genius Ichijouji Ken was the captain of. Daisuke, being determined to show Ken he was on his level, tried his best during the team. Ichijouji's team dominated the game until the end. As Daisuke knew he was going to lose, he just wanted to stop Ken from scoring one last time. He pulled a sliding maneuver and hit Ken's leg. He went to Ken to apologize after the game and Ken seemed almost pleased to have someone stop that play. They shook hands and Daisuke was happy his hero had used his full name. Though the feeling wouldn't last. The next time the team went to the Digital World, Daisuke was separated from the others. He found the Digitmon Kaiser, who had seemed to capture the rest of the Chosen Children. He threatened to feed them to Deltamon if Daisuke didn't bow to the Kaiser. Daisuke did, not wanting his friends to be hurt. The other Children appeared at the last moment, showing that the ones the Kaiser was holding hostage were actually Bakemon in disguise. Daisuke tackled the Kaiser before he could escape. He recognized the wound on the Kaiser's leg. The Digimon Kaiser revealed himself to be Ichijouji Ken. Ken escaped and left Daisuke in disbelief that the boy he admired was actually his enemy.

It was shortly after that that the group discovered that Ken had ran away from home. They quickly discovered he had gone to live in the Digital World permanently now. It was then that he was able to capture Taichi's Agumon and put an Evil Ring on him. He forced the digimon to dark evolve though he was unable to control SkullGreymon. The team found Agumon after he had escaped from the Kaiser. Though that didn't last long as Ken appeared and used his new Evil Spiral to recapture Agumon and have him evolve into MegalGreymon. The group lost because they couldn't attack their friend. It was after Ken retreated with his new weapon that Daisuke began to have issues. He didn't want to attack Agumon because he was Taichi's digimon. The others agreed to not hold back but he couldn't understand. He admitted he didn't know what friendship was when they found the digimental of friendship. He was forced to try and pick it up and either wasn't able to or faked trying. It was then the Kaiser attacked again and Patamon was kidnapped. Daisuke hesitated to attack in fear of hurting Patamon. Fladramon asked if Daisuke would risk his lift for his partner and all he could say was 'yes, maybe.' Daisuke had risked his life for his friends before but the idea of hurting them to save them wasn't something he could cope with. He admitted he was pathetic and the digimental of friendship went to Daisuke. He was able to evolve V-mon into Lighdramon. Together with Yamato, they were able to destroy the Evil Spiral and free Agumon. When they returned to the real world, Daisuke kept asking if he was cool and wouldn't fully admit it was thanks to the others that he grew. It showed just how much further he had to go.

The following trips to the Digital World were filled with more adventures. Miyako and Iori both were able to collect their second digimentals. They destroyed a number of Dark Towers but they knew this wasn't working since Ken was in the Digital World all the time now and finally they decided to go into the Digital World and not return until they found Ken's base and defeated him. Daisuke was left behind during the initial attack on the base where it was revealed that Ken had created a Digimon of his own to defeat them. Daisuke and the others went into the base soon after. Daisuke was separated from the others with V-mon. They were met by Wormmon, who lead them to the power source of the base. There Daisuke found the Digimental of Miracles. With it, he evolved V-mon into Magnamon. Though it wasn't until Wormmon sacrificed himself that Magamon could defeat Chimeramon. Daisuke watched as Ken had a break down and helped to convince him that the Digital World and Digimon were real and could feel pain. They watched as Wormmmon died in Ken's hands. Daisuke found the Crest of Kindness and gave it to Ken. He told him to go back to his family and they parted ways.

Later the Chosen Children returned to help the Digimon rebuild the Digital World. It was during this little adventure that Daisuke tried to get V-mon to evolve naturally to impress Hikari. This angered another Digimon which did spur V-mon to evolve into XV-mon to fight the angry digimon. It was soon later that the group were attacked by a Digimon that they seemed to be unable to beat. Ken arrived on the scene with a mysterious Digimon who Ken and Stingmon killed. The group thought that Ken was up to his old tricks but Daisuke thought differently. He went to meet Ken and talk to him. He wanted him to join the team but Ken refused.

Soon after the Chosen Children discovered that the Kaiser's base is on the verge of exploding. Daisuke called on Ken for help. Though when Ken arrived with the Crest of Kindness, he was convinced that in order to repent for his sins, he had to die in this explosion. Daisuke slapped him and told him to think of all those who would care if he died here. He didn't want Ken to die and again extended his hand in friendship. It was then that XV-mon and Stingmon first Jogress Evolved into Paildramon. They made it inside of the base and stopped it from exploding.

From then on, Daisuke and Ken were close friends. Though things got worse when they discovered they had other enemies, Archnemon and Mummymon. The two had been forming Digimon out of the Dark Towers. They could handle it until Arachemon created BlackWarGreymon out of one hundred spires. Things got worse when Iori's distrust of Ken forced him to leave the group for a small time. They did manage to get Ken back but it didn't help when BlackWarGreymon easily defeated the group. Things got worse when Archenemon and Mummymon decided to turn their attentions from the Chosen Children and into the Destiny Stones. They destroyed one, which then sent BlackWarGreymon on a path to destroying them all and the Digital World.

The Chosen Children failed to protect all but one of the Destiny Stones. Daisuke, having the idea to try and save the stone by using his D3 accidentally summoned Quinlongmon. The elder Digimon was able to stop BlackWarGreymon and the Digimon left after he realized his purpose in life perhaps wasn't his true purpose. Quinlongmon then told the Chosen Children a true enemy was in the shadows controlling Archnemon and Mummymon and that the evil would soon reveal itself.

And it did near Christmas. Ken invited his friends to his house for a party and the Chosen Children went. Daisuke was happy to be invited. Though the festivities were ruined when a Dark Tower and Digimon crashed Yamato's show. The group were able to stop the rampage and get the Digimon back into the Digital World. Though the victory buzz was killed then the Children realized that the problem wasn't only in Japan but across the world. It was soon after that the Chosen Children got one of Quinglongmon's digicores, which allowed Paildramon to evolve into Imperialdramon. Daisuke and Ken were able to help the Chosen Children across Japan to destroy the Towers and get all of the lost Digimon back into the Digital World. Then the Chosen Children split up to stop the rampaging across the world.

After they succeeded and the Chosen Children returned to Japan, things only got worse. Demon and his and his Demon Corps appeared in Japan. The Chosen Children were having problems fighting one of his flunkies, Skull Satamon. The other Chosen Children surrendered their ability to reach Perfect level so that Imperialdramon could shift into his Fighter form. They were able to defeat Skull Satamon but no sooner had they done that that Archnemon and Mummymon appeared with a truck full of missing children. Despite Daisuke telling him not to go, Ken left with the pair of Digimon. Daisuke chased after them and was able to catch up when Demon reappeared and stopped the truck. With the help of the group, Ken and the others were able to open a portal to the World of Darkness and banished Demon from the human world. The problem was Archnemon, Mummymon, and their revealed employer Oikawa Yukio escaped and left the twenty children with the new Dark Seeds harvested from Ken in their necks.

Over the past few days, the Chosen Children followed the children with the Dark Seeds in their necks. They encountered Oikawa several times. Finally, BlackWarGreymon tried to seal off the portal to the Digital World at the bridge where the original children had first seen Digimon. Oikawa was able to pull the Seed Kids into a dream world nonetheless. The Chosen Children followed, only for it to be revealed Oikawa was being possessed by Vamdemon, who had not truly been killed years ago. He came out of Oikawa as Belial Vamdemon. Belial Vamdemon turned on Archnemon and Mummmymon and killed them. The Chosen Children were scared by Daisuke and XV-mon were ready to fight. Belial Vamdemon sent the children into an illusion of their greatest desires. However it didn't work on Daisuke due to the fact he wanted nothing else. He was happy with what he had. He reached out to the other children and pulled them out of their illusions. They attacked Belial Vamdemon and forced him into the Digital World.

There the evil Digimon was planning on pulling the real world and the Digital World into one world of darkness. Daisuke was able to convince the Seed Kids that they didn't need to be afraid or give into Belial Vamdemon. He told them of his dream to open up a noodle cart. The other Chosen Children shared their dreams and the Seed Kid's despair vanished. Light from the D3s of all the children of the world helped them defeat Belial Vamdemon. Oikawa sacrificed himself to return the life to the Digital World and both words were saved.

Character Personality: Daisuke Motomiya is must like the typical shonen boy. He is energetic, loud, determined, courageous, a natural born leader, and a bit thick in the head. Daisuke isn't the brightest bulb in the box but what he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in other ways. Daisuke's crests are the Crest of Courage and the Crest of Friendship and he embodies those two ideals almost perfectly. He deserved to inherit those two crests from the previous Chosen Children. Daisuke is a goggleboy and sees himself as the leader of the Chosen Children because of it. Daisuke is a kind boy with a good heart.

Daisuke first inherited the Crest of Courage and he, much like Taichi, truly embodies this ideal. Daisuke is almost never truly afraid of anything or if he is, it doesn't stop him in his tracks. He faces his fears proudly and often rushes into situation without thinking. He is a dive in and ask questions later boy. Daisuke was also the only one unaffected by Belial Vamdemon's illusions due to his lack of fear of the evil Digimon and for another reason I will get into later. As I said, Daisuke dives into situation before thinking and it isn't always good. Daisuke's drive to push forward at all costs can make him blind to more sensible and less direct courses of action. Stealth is not often Daisuke's first though of how to handle a situation though as time has gone by, he's gotten better at slowing down. He has a long way to go however.

The second crest Daisuke inherited was the Crest of Friendship. This was the crest that Daisuke initially struggled with. He admitted that he didn't really understand friendship or how it worked. This hints that perhaps Daisuke didn't have many true friends before he became a Chosen Child and grew closer to the group as a whole. Daisuke's more loud and boisterous personality could have been a turn off for others. As time went on, however, Daisuke began to understand the truth of friendship and the mean of sacrifice and doing what was needed for a friend. It was Daisuke who was the first to extend the hand of friendship to Ken and didn't relent in his attempts to get him to join his group of Chosen Children. Through many trials and bumps, Ken and he became best friends. Daisuke's connections to the other and the friends he had made contributed as to why he wasn't affected by Belial Vamdemon's illusions. He had no secret all consuming desire. He had everything he wanted. He had his friends. He had his family. He had his digimon partner. What more could he want? Instead of wanting more, as he often did early in the adventure, Daisuke grew into enjoying his life as it was. He was also able to reach out to his friends thanks to his bond with them and pulled them out of their illusions. Daisuke understands friendship almost perfectly now thanks to his adventures as a Chosen Child.

Daisuke isn't perfect. The boy has several problems such as a bit of rebellious streak thanks to him being leader. He doesn't really like following orders from others and wants to do things as he wants to do them. He's headstrong and is not afraid to show it. The boy also has a habit of developing a strong and blinding crush. We see this the most by how he reacted whenever something involving Hikari came up. He would rather run off to help Hikari than to do anything else he was told to do. The boy definitely knows what he wants and will go after it. He isn't blind to reason though. He can be made to follow along if the majority wants something. That is unless he believes more strongly in what he wants and may go off on his own to do what he wants. It depends on circumstances mostly. He also has issues with his sister. Jun and Daisuke are not the perfect sibling duo like Taichi and Hikari are or Takeru and Yamato. His sister makes fun of him and points out his faults and he in return does the same. He claims to not like her but the two of them do care for one another. They have a more typical older and younger sibling dynamic of arguing and poking each others buttons.

Daisuke could be considered the biggest dreamer (see what I did there?) of his group of Chosen Children. It was Daisuke that was able to pull the Seed Kids out of their despair by sharing his dream of opening up a ramen cart. The boy, as I said earlier, is headstrong and strives for what he wants. At the same time though, this particular dream wasn't just about accomplishing something for the sake of accomplishing it. He was driven by his love for ramen, which turns out to be his favorite food. Daisuke doesn't skimp on things when it comes to the things or people he loves. It is one of the reasons he is so dedicated to his soccer team. He loves the sport and gives it his all for himself, his team, and his school. This determination was one of the reasons he admired Ken was because despite being the same age, Ken had accomplished so much more than he had. He wanted to be like Ken one day and be someone that others could look up to.

The second goggleboy, leader of the second generation of Chosen Children, and a great kid, Daisuke Motomiya is the Chosen Child of Courage and Friendship. Daisuke puts his heart and everything into his relationship with his friends and is someone who never backs down from a challenge, no matter how afraid he may be. Daisuke isn't greedy or wanting as much as he once was. He has grown through his adventures with the other Chosen Children. He has befriended someone who once was his greatest enemy and now they are as close as friends can be. He is willing to look for the good side of people but also isn't about to let those who hurt others get away with it. Daisuke is truly worthy of his status as Chosen Child and he will only continue to grow into a more mature and good person as time goes on.

Powers and Abilities: Daisuke's main power comes from being a Chosen Child. He has a digimon partner and is able to help them evolve into even stronger forms. He has access to the Digimentals of Courage and Friendship to give his partner even more options for evolution. Daisuke is also fast and strong for his age. He is a decent soccer player and better on offense than defense. He is brave even in he face of things most his age or even adults would shake from. He also has the determination to always push forward no matter the odds.

[The video shows Daisuke sitting at a table. A kitchen table from the looks of it. Those who live with Lelouch would recognize it as their kitchen table. It's late, almost 3 am and yet here is Daisuke posting on the network. The boy looks exhausted as he starts speaking.]

Does anyone know any shortcuts for this bending stuff? I've been up all night trying and it just ain't working. I just want to bend something. Just once. Lelouch-san isn't letting up and Ichijouji is worse. A-Anyone got any tips? Huh? Please tell me someone's up. This stuff is haaaard.

I'm so tired...

[Daisuke wobbles for a moment. His head starts heading for the table. Suddenly though, a pillow appears. His face flops right onto the pillow. He turns his head, eyes closed, and he starts snoring a second later. Looks like he's finally used Bending. Too bad he doesn't realize it. He starts to drool a little as the video cuts out.]

Third Person:

Daisuke sat at this table with his cheek resting on his hand. His eyes were a little glazed over as he listened to Lelouch going over the basics of bending. The cinnamon haired boy just wasn’t sure about all of this bending stuff. Sure, this was a new world. He could get that. And you could just will things into just popping up? It was like that dream world the others had found and it seemed unreal again. He hadn’t meant to do the things he did there and yet he did. Here it was normal and everyone seemed to be able to do it. Daisuke wasn’t so sure he could. It sounded complicated and he wasn’t good at complicated things. Math was not his strongest subject for a reason.

He looked over at the wall rather than up at the front of the class. He wondered what the others were doing right now. Everyone said time sort of stopped when you came here. So no one would notice they were missing. Would anyone notice if they went back and had to watch their lives? Ken said it was like watching a movie. Did that mean anyone noticed or did they not? What would it be like to do that? It sounded like everything would be boring. You couldn’t do things, you could only watch. No wonder a bunch of people didn’t want to go back home. It was exciting here but it wasn’t home. That was the problem. It wouldn’t be home without the other Chosen Children. It wouldn’t be home without their families. It definitely wouldn’t be home without their partners.

Daisuke’s mind wandered to V-mon. How was his partner? Would he like it here if he woke up? Could he evolve here? Would he be happy? He imagined Chibimon cheering happily at the idea of being able to think of food and having it appear. If he got V-mon then he would feel horrible if Wormmon didn’t wake up at the same time. Then what if Wormmon showed up but V-mon didn’t? At least it would make Ken feel better. Speaking of Ken, he wondered what the other Chosen Child was doing right now. He didn’t seem to have any problems with Bending. Then again, he was smart. Another reason why he was sure Bending wasn’t going to be easy. He just wanted to get out of here and go play soccer. He looked up just in time for Lelouch to start assigning homework. Daisuke was the first one up once class was dismissed and he headed right out the door. He’d worry about Bending later. There was a soccer field and a ball with his name on it. He would give homework a try after he played around for a while. Maybe.
